Okay, right now I don't have a lot inthe way of Other Goodies, except maybe a few trivia points.
The title "The Velderet" and a sentence at the turning point of the book, are an homage to Ray Bradbury. I read his story "The Veldt" as a child. It was about a pair of kids who had a kind of holodeck nursery and everytime their parents look in there, they are pretending they are on the veldt. The parents are disturbed by the inexplicable desires of their children ... which should make a pretty obvious connection to the cybersex theme of the book, no?
The background image on the cover was originally supposed to be a digital art image by an artist whose name I won't mention here since we had a misundertstanding and, even though she was paid for it, she never delivered the art. the art ws supposed to resemble a circuit board. Instead, I took an Ethernet card, slapped it down on my flatbed scanner, and just scanned it as is. Thanks to Lorie Josephsen for coming through with a replacement illustration to go with it!
Thanks also to Nancy Hanger of Windhaven Press, who did the proofreading, copyediting, and the interior text design. It was important to have a copyeditor who could make authoritative decisions on things like, oh, whether cybersex should be one word or two.
As with each book I've written, I got a tattoo to commemorate the publication. I don't yet have a good photo of the new tattoo, but it is another black feather on my left arm, where the others are. This one was done by Cliff at Sacred Rose Tattoo in San Francisco and is even more detailed than the last one.
That's about it for the moment...
